 The Gender-Based Violence in Societies

The women’s lives are framed by the social structure of patriarchy, which consists of male dominance, economic and social power, underpinned by the use of, or threat of violence. (Red Ford, 1992)

The cause of violence against women is women being women, a gender problem. All forms of violence against women are the product of this mindset.

 The gender-based violence against women is:

a.       Family violence

b.       Sexual violence,

c.       Kidnapping for ransom

d.       Trafficking for sexual exploitation, bonded labor, organ transplant, criminal activities, and fake marriages.

What are the solutions?

1.       Treat the mindset that is the source of actions against women.

2.       Punish violent actions.

3.       Justice for the victims

a.       Access to justice and fair treatment

b.       Right to restitution

c.       Right to compensation

d.       Right to assistance
